The Homeopathic School of the Americas

Inspired by several stints in Cuba with Homeopaths Without Borders and double-blind studies by Dr. Jennifer Jacobs using homeopathic remedies to treat Honduran and Nicaraguan children with diarrhea, Dr. Karl Robinson  formed the Homeopathic School of the Americas to spread knowledge of homeopathy in Central America.

Starting as a solo effort, Dr. Robinson first developed a three-year certification program for medical doctors, naturopaths and other health practitioners in Honduras. Included in the Honduras group were a couple of participants from El Salvador and Guatemala who invited him to their countries where he subsequently addressed large groups on the topic of first aid using homeopathy. Eventually, the certification program grew to encompass those countries also.

A demanding schedule of travel to Central America every eight weeks in 2004 and the desire to present his students with exposure to differing points of view and expertise within the homeopathic community led Dr. Robinson to request the participation of distinguished guests.  Sharing their skills in 2005 were Ed Kondroit, M.D., Phoenix ophthalmologist,; Nick Nossaman, M.D., Denver family practitioner; Michael Glass, M.D., psychiatrist from Binghamton, N.Y. This year the impressive roster has included William Shevin, M.D., Connecticut family doctor; John Millar of The Homeopathic College of Canada, and Kim Elia, naturopath and homeopath.

Dr. Robinson acknowledges the pioneer work of Manfred Braig, a naturopath from Germany sponsored by European Homeopaths Without Borders, who initiated the dissemination of information about homeopathy in Central America. He has taken that initial toehold and planted a firm footprint in the lands of our southern neighbors.

While continuing to donate considerable effort to the Homeopathic School of the Americas, Dr. Robinson maintains a practice in Houston and Albuquerque and contributes frequently to professional journals.
